We have enabled a new Opt-In feature for you to use to help send marketing communications to your customers. This allows for clients to give you their explicit consent to continue receiving marketing emails from your company.
You will notice that under the ‘All users’ tab you will see a drop-down for ‘Opt-in’
You will be able to filter the users on the database by selecting yes or no. All users will be set to opt-in ‘no’ and will need to select ‘yes’ manually to change their opt-in status to ‘yes’
The best way to do this would be sending an email to your mailing list asking them to update their email preferences in their user profile.
Changes in the registration form for new users
New users registering to the site will now have the option to select Opt-In to marketing communications or Opt-out of all communications when they are submitting their account information as seen below. This option will be now added to their profile and will be sortable in the ‘All users’ section.
This is explicit consent (Informed, specific, Not pre-ticked, positive action) and can be evidenced by an audit trail in the site database (there is no way of evidencing newsletters prior to this date)
As you can see there is a new section called ‘Marketing Communications’. This is for any email communications outside of the newsletters you send i.e. Company news, promotions etc.
The below section is dedicated to all Newsletters, new users can select a newswire that they wish to receive and also select ‘Opt-in to marketing communications’.
If users select ‘Opt-out of all communications’ then all newsletters will be un-selected as well as the marketing communication checkbox.
Similar to the Marketing Opt-In this is explicit consent (Informed, specific, Not pre-ticked, positive action) and can be evidenced by an audit trail in the site database, however there is no way of evidencing newsletters prior to the 18th April when the new functionality was rolled out.
